Household gadgets worth Rs 2.5 lakh seized at Comba
Sleuths of the criminal metrology branch, Margao, on Monday, raided a godown at Fatorda and seized family appliances and electrical goods really worth over Rs 2.5 lakh.
The branch’s assistant controller (south zone), Arun Panchwadkar, told TOI that the raiding team first apprehended a car used to promote domestic appliances and household goods. Salesmen engaged in selling the one’s items door-to-door at Comba, Margao, offering reductions and scratch cards to clients, were wondered.
“The salesmen sooner or later led us to the godown at Fatorda where those objects have been stored. The items failed to agree to the requirements governing packaged commodities under the Legal Metrology Act.
“Besides not containing details like the names of producers, MRP, and so forth. There is every opportunity of the products being substandard. We want to verify the records provided by using those manning the godown. We have booked the case under provisions contained inside the Legal Metrology Act,” Panchwadkar stated. The automobile used for selling the goods turned into also seized.
